A few weeks ago, I invited my dad to watch a movie with me. Purchased our tickets on the AMC app, paid about $18 for his ticket and $20 for mine. We watched Civil War which is a great film by the way and we both thoroughly enjoyed it.
Now going back to our topic – senior discounts at AMC – you can actually get the discount right away if you buy your tickets on the AMC website or app.
How to Avail of Senior Discounts at AMC Theatres Online
The easiest way to get the discounted price for seniors is by buying your tickets via AMC’s website or mobile app. On their website, simply go to this page to choose your specific theatre. Once you’re there, click on Get Tickets and then pick the movie and time slot you want. You will then be taken to another page that lets you choose the seats. Click Continue and then enter the number of adults, children and seniors in your group. You should already see the corresponding ticket prices at AMC for each category (adult, child or senior).
Then, enter your information and payment details. You will then be given your QR code or ticket number once the transaction is completed.
If booking through the AMC app, just make sure you have the app downloaded and follow the same steps indicated above.
Buying Senior Tickets at the Box Office
If purchasing movie tickets at the box office or ticketing area at the theater, you may or may not be asked to present a valid ID that will serve as proof that you’re a senior citizen. To be sure, just make sure you bring your ID with you. Take note that the discount is applicable to individuals who are at least 60 years old.
How Much is the Senior Citizen Discount at AMC?
Senior pricing at AMC is already predetermined. Based on my experience buying movie tickets for my parents, the price of a senior ticket is usually a dollar or two less than the adult ticket price. To give you some examples:
At AMC Phipps Plaza 14 here in Atlanta, the matinee standard ticket for adults is $13.49 while a senior ticket is $12.39. The evening adult ticket for the same movie is $17.99 while for seniors it’s $16.49.
Meanwhile, if you were to watch a RealD 3D movie, the evening ticket price for adults is $21.99 while seniors pay $20.49. If you watch a movie in Dolby Cinema, the adult ticket price (matinee) is $17.69 while seniors (matinee) pay $16.59. Evening adult tickets for the same movie format is $21.99 while seniors are charged $20.49.
Save Money with AMC Stubs
There are 3 ways a senior can save money by becoming a member of AMC Stubs. Let’s start with earning rewards points. Members can get a $5 reward for every 5000 points earned, which you can use towards a movie ticket or concession.
Another way can save money with AMC Stubs is if you become a Premiere or A-List member, you won’t have to pay a convenience fee when buying your movie tickets online or via the app. This benefit saves you at least $2 in fees per ticket. AMC Stubs Insider also waives convenience fees if you buy 4 tickets or more.
Finally, if you become an A-List member of AMC, you can watch up to 3 movies for free every week. This translates to a lot of savings considering that each movie ticket costs anywhere between $10 to $20 for seniors. The membership fee for A-List is only $20 per month although some states may be slightly more expensive at $22 to $25.
Discount Tuesdays
Available to all AMC Stub members, you can watch a movie on any Tuesday and pay only $5 to $7 per ticket. Plus, you can take advantage of the popcorn and drink combo which only costs $5 plus tax.
As to the terms and conditions applicable to seniors, you may be asked to present your virtual card, physical card, account number or email address when you buy your ticket at the theater. If the purchase is made online or through AMC’s mobile app, make sure to use your own account before checking out.

I love AMC theatres. My husband and I always watch movies at the Highlands Ranch AMC 24. We are both retired, so we avail of the senior discount on Tuesdays. We pay $5 each to watch a show. It is so nice to be able to go on a date with my hubby without having to pay an arm and a leg. Seats are excellent too. We cuddle up and raise our feet while watching the movie. A very relaxing day for both of us.
We moved to a town that does not have an AMC Theatre in town. When we go down to the Denver metro, however, we try to catch a movie at an AMC Theatre nearby.

It’s been a pleasure to go back to the movies! Super fast at the ticket counters, and can chill at your seats while the staff brings your food orders right to you. They have nice 21+ bar with movie themed drinks, the seats are comfy and the picture and sound are great! Theatres and restrooms are clean too. I havent had a bad experience going to an AMC.
